New Logo, Free Sticker
Yesterday I posted on social media that I was giving away What’s Shaking Man stickers. I thought you would like to know a little bit more about the design so I have written it below:
I have a new What’s Shaking Man logo. I tried several designs or themes with it. Of course I tried the cocktail shaker and martini glass. Overused across all genres, especially in the Parkinson’s world. I tried a dancing Rastafarian. Very colorful, but his fingers look like the hotdog-fingered woman in the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once. Then I stumbled onto the idea of the fist. OK, it is a bit overused but hear me out.
A fist is a sign of power and revolt. People affected by Parkinson’s are in a power struggle with the disease. Many of us revolt against the perceptions of suffering with Parkinson’s and prefer to say we are living with Parkinson’s. Also, a fist bump is the new way to greet someone. It is a way to welcome someone and show unity. Also, the fist is the symbol for boxing, which is how many of us living with Parkinson’s stay in shape and slow the progress of the disease. So a fist it is.
My friend Joe offered to do the design as he is a graphic artist, and he asked that I draw out how I imagined it and then he would make it look like I didn’t freehand it. After a dayJoe said my drawing of the fist was the best fit, and that he wanted it to use it rather than a professional rendition. He thickened the lines and added lettering and colors. My logo was born.
I believe, it is as personal as it is powerful. Right now I have stickers. If you would like one or two, please message me on Instagram/Facebook or email me at steve@whatsshakingman.com, provide me with your address and I will send it to you anywhere in the world. Thanks. This offer is good until my birthday, September 7, because after that, I will be too old to keep sending them.
